I wondered how this story was going to play out. Afterall; it would take a very strong woman to be able to handle Alex's past womanizing ways, and I wasn't sure Jessie would be up to that task. I also worried that Alex wouldn't be able to completely become a one-woman kind of man. But I was wrong on both counts.I loved the fact that Alex and Jessie's love story started way, way back in their early childhood years, when he was there for her when she was a kid, growing up in the house next door and trying so bravely to deal with her father's sudden death. He'd taken her under his protective arms and became her hero, when she was feeling so lost and all alone. Being the youngest and the only girl in the family, she more or less had become the forgotten child, so to speak.
Now 14 years later they meet again, and even though both of their families aren't happy about the situation and try to keep them apart. But they find that the close friendship they had formed in their childhood years, and their attractions towards one another now.....is just too strong for either of them to ignore. If anything; they seem to be even more drawn to each other now. Will they be able to ignore those feelings and go on living their own lives? Or will they give in and see where this attraction leeds them?
I have to admit that I was so looking forward to this story, but sorry to say that it didn't turn out to be as much fun as I thought. It was a really good story, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I did the first 2 stories. But that's just my own opinion, I'm sure others may see it very differently, and that's fine. To each, their own....as they say.

I really thought I wouldn't like Alex. He's the womanizer type. He gets any woman he wants when he wants. His friends even call him "The Professor", and not in a good way. However, in "Anyone But Alex", we get a much broader view of who he is. He is tired of being that kind of man. He is aching for some kind of emotional connection to someone.
I fell in love with Jessie. She is a strong, vibrant, and caring. She doesn't care about Alex's past as long as she is his future. She knows who the real Alex is and won't let him forget that. These two are just perfect for each other. Alex became a new man when he found Jessie again (she has been living in England).
I was super nervous that these two wouldn't be able to work out their problems. Jessie was only in Philadelphia until Christmas and they weren't sure how to make it work after she left. Another problem is Alex's past. Can Jessie get past the number of women he's slept with?
I couldn't wait to get to the end of this book to find out what happens between Jessie and Alex. They are topping my list of my book couples. They know each other and understand each other to the point where they know what the other is thinking.
With this being book 3 in the English Brothers series (there are 2 more to go!!), I think Katy is onto something!
A sweet story. Jessica is perfect for Alex. She isn't after his good looks, money or the privilege of his bed for a random night. She loves the whole person, the one she knew so well from her childhood. Alex is at a point where something's gotta give. He isn't happy with his personal life anymore. Enter Jessica. The problem is Alex as made his bed very temporary, very often. Now when he wants to settle, that bed is very messy. Can Jessica come in strip that bed to make with just the two of them in mind?
Lauren Sweet does a great job narrating.
I must say that Katy has done it again!! Another English brother and she still blows me away!! Alex’s story is the one I wanted as soon as I read about him in book one, Breaking Up With Barrett. In book one and two, Falling For Fitz, we got a little information on Alex and boy what a whore he is!! That man has gone through more women than any character I can think of.
Once he has seen that Barrett and Fitz are happy and engaged, he starts to have these mixed feelings. He’s still with his one night stands or weekly ‘meetings’ which seem to fit his lifestyle. He works with his brothers and has always taken the easy way out and tried to avoid any relationships.
“Jess, I’m no good without you. You fill this deep ache inside of me. You make me a better man. You make me good. You make me whole.”
It seems when his friend’s little sister, Jessica, appears after being away in England for 15 years that all it takes is for one look at her, and he is a goner!! Jessica has had feelings for Alex but she knows about his reputation and her brothers “anyone but Alex” warning and that makes her want him even more.
Jessica knows she is only home for a short time and they both know they want to see each other, no matter the cost or hurt to her family. One thing I love about this book is that Alex really seems to be entranced with Jessica but he is so worried about his reputation causing her pain. Jessica knows it won’t be easy and it seems no matter where she turns, she comes face to face with a woman from his past. I think she really handled it a lot better than I would.
I love seeing Alex simply torn up over his feelings for Jessica. She’s like the forbidden fruit and he’s so tempted by her. He knows he wants that bite but knows there will consequences for her. He has never had feelings for a woman before so I love seeing him brought to his knees when he finds out that he’s fallen in love with her.
“Jess, since the moment you walked back into my life, everything’s changed. How I see the world. How I see myself. What I want. Who I want it with. You’re my reason for everything. There’s literally nothing I wouldn’t do for you.”
Anyone But Alex is such a touching but yet hot story. Alex and Jessica can’t seem to figure what to do and I felt my heart being ripped out trying to figure out what was going to happen in the end. Katy’s writing is always wonderfully written and you really feel like you are a part of the story. I also enjoy having the characters from the previous books mingled in with the current characters so you get more of their story too. I’m looking forward to getting the next book to hopefully try and find out about the mysterious Stratton!! Great read again by Katy!!
